It’s no secret that Traveler’s Notebook is more than just a notebook – it’s a very versatile system. There are endless ways of using it! However, I decided to simplify it for you. I have grouped all the different ways into three big ‘buckets’ and gave you some examples and ideas of how to use your Traveler’s Notebook. Each of these groups uses specific refills to help you get the most out of your notebook. However, you can get creative and use other refills – that’s the beauty of Traveler’s Notebook. There are hardly any rules, and you can use it your own way.
There are 3 easy ways to use Traveler’s Notebook:
- Productivity
- Journaling
- Art
1. Productivity
Productivity tools are something that can make us more effective at whatever tasks we are performing Anything to do with daily and long-term planning, remembering stuff, ideas, tracking will fall into productivity category. Here are some ways to use your Traveler’s Notebook in order to stay productive.
- If you are into using pre-formatted calendars, consider Free Daily, Weekly or Monthly Planners. Choose what format suits you more and start. They are undated, so no excuse waiting until the beginning of the next year!
- Bullet Journal. This is a great productivity system created by Ryder Carroll. You can use a combination of planner refills with Grid Notebook. Grid Notebook is an excellent canvas to create whatever layouts you need. Check out my Inspiration page to learn more about Bullet Journal.
- Monthly Goals. Defining goals will help you to stay focused on the most important things that bring you closer to achieving your end goal and not get distracted by stuff that is not critical. You can write your goals in your Planner Refills or in your Bullet Journal.
- Monthly Reviews. Sometimes we get more productive by analysing the past month. You can discover some common themes that you can look into. For example, if you have the same frustrations month in and month out, you can focus a bit more on that area of your life/business.
- This is another way to stay productive and remember what you are planning to do. Lists can be an essential part of your Bullet Journal. You can use Grid, Lined or Blank Refills for them. Some of the popular lists’ ideas are:
- Books to read
- Movies/TV shows to watch
- Bucket list
- Countries/places to visit
- Blog ideas
- Gift ideas
- This is another very popular productivity tool. Lots of Bullet Journallers use trackers. I find Grid Refill is the easiest to use for trackers. You can track so many things! Here are some examples:
- Habit tracker
- Water intake tracker
- Exercise tracker
- Weight loss tracker
- Sleep tracker
- Savings tracker
- Medicine tracker
2. Journaling
There are so many ways to journal and regardless of your preference you can find a way to make it work for you in Traveler’s Notebook. If you write daily reflections, the most common Refill for this would be Lined Refill. If you are writing a lot, consider Lightweight Paper Refill – it has twice the number of pages, but the notebook is still very slim and easy to fit in your Traveler’s Notebook.
You can also get creative and journal in a weekly or daily planner, if you have just a few points to note about each day. Check out how Eunice from ‘The Daily Roe’ does it on my Inspiration page.
Kraft Paper and Blank Refills are great for those of you who like to free-write and sketch and doodle in your journal.
